What a year! We’ve been rolling along, doing the odd small job here and there, and it’s been over a month since my last post, but we’ve now come up with a spectacular project idea. The trick is to see how copyright issues will come into play because many of the shots we’re looking at doing will contain items of many cultural icons from over the years. If we can find a cheap way to license items or even ways to avoid the conflict without paying fees, then we’ll go ahead with the idea. But there is some research needed so stay tuned.
Also, I’m having issues with this blog template I think so I may change it up in the next few weeks. My next two weeks are pretty full up but we’ll see what I can pull off.
Lastly, I’m really hoping I can remember to do a personal project of mine this year. A lot of photographers inspire themselves by doing a 365 project. That involves doing one great photo every day for a year. It’s extremely challenging and most photographers end up throwing in the towel after the first couple months simply because of how daunting the task is. I personally tried it in 2001 and was moderately successful until my wife left me in early March of that year. Needless to say I wasn’t all that interested in photography at all for a while.
At any rate, due to the complexity and challenge of doing a 365 (which I’ve only attempted once more since) I have also had the idea to do a smaller, more manageable daily project that I would like to turn into a possible book if all goes well. The project is called One Edmonton Summer and would consist of images derived everyday from the beginning of the Summer Solstice (June 21st, 2009) until the Fall Equinox (September 22, 2009)…Here’s hoping this one goes well!
